2.  Is it safe to mail a check to an Internet vendor?  A check is a safe form of payment, but still has some concerns. If the company you sent a check to is not reputable, and the company is out of your State, you will likely have difficulty making a claim. Legal action crossing State lines is expensive.  The use of a credit card will help you gain some safety.  Visa, Discover, MasterCard, and American Express all offer services to help you in the event you have a problem with a vendor that is not providing you what you have agreed to purchase.  The best advice we can give you is to limit your spending by check, unless you know your vendor. A member of the C.C.C. should be a safer option when considering payment by check.
